Shipping
How We Ship
Dahlias ship Canada-wide via tracked service with guaranteed timelines built into the service (timelines depending on the region of Canada)
We aim for your package to have insurance coverage and do our best to balance fair shipping costs for you with recouping enough to ensure coverage in the event of a shipping issue
Please note the coverage may not fully cover your shipment’s total value, but we always aim to get you the best protection possible within your shipping fee
When We Ship
Dahlia orders ship throughout May based on region, local frost dates, and our workforce
The last shipments will go out by the end of May (we cannot be responsible for late frosts and will do our best to both watch the weather and package the tubers in a way that does not leave large air spaces)
We do not currently offer early shipping or US Shipping
Why Shipping Costs What It Does
Shipping perishable goods across Canada is costly—especially given current supply chain challenges. Our rates reflect the true cost of fast, reliable delivery across long distances (see cost below in Shipping Options)
We understand this adds up, especially if you cannot get the varieties you want at checkout, so we work hard to:
Offer early access to subscribers + a discount for subscribers (when you subscribe, a password to access the sale early and a promo code will be emailed ahead of the sale)
Combine Shipping
Offer a Wishlist + an Account feature where you can input your selections and shipping info for a smooth checkout and allow you to access enough tubers to justify the shipping
Important Shipping Details
Please select the correct Shipping or Combined Shipping option, especially if placing multiple orders
We reserve the right to cancel orders with incorrect shipping selections if we cannot reach you by email within 3 days
Shipping Options

Flat rate Canada-wide shipping (2-day tracked): $24
Combined Shipping: $5
Combined Shipping
This combined shipping option is only to be used if you've already placed an order and want to combine shipping and avoid paying the full cost again. The cost helps cover any extra shipping costs, and the handling time and cost associated with manual order merging.
The same name, address and email as the original order must be used to access combined shipping
Guarantees
Tubers
Each tuber ships with at least one viable eye and is inspected for health at least 5 times (while growing as a plant, when dug, divided, inventoried and packed for shipping)
We ensure each tuber has a visible eye, intact neck and body, and a minimum thickness of a pencil (never rotten, moldy, or overly shriveled). Most will arrive pre-sprouted, especially for our customers with later frost dates (hopefully getting a jump on the season). If the tuber is not pre-sprouted the eye will be circled.
Once shipped, we cannot control shipping damage or post-arrival care
Disease
We maintain sanitation standards at every stage (planting, disbudding, bloom harvest, digging, dividing, inventory, and packing). We never use machinery to plant or dig as it cannot be reliably sanitized.
We destroy any plant showing suspicion of disease
However, studies show that even well-cared-for dahlias can be asymptomatic carriers
We do not guarantee disease-free stock, and by purchasing, you accept this risk
Labeling
We take great care to avoid labeling errors, we've actually never had a surpirse from our labelling and have a pretty rock-solid system - but we've heard from others that they've received many mislabels from other farms and we can empathize. We also know that even with a great system human error can happen whether at our home or yours
By purchasing you're confirming you understand this risk and accept that we cannot take your word for you buying an off type from us due to your own potential for human error when planting and labelling (nothing personal - we <3 you - we just know you’re human too and a lot can happend from tuber arrival to bloom)
If we discover we've made an error we will reach out to you to make it right (promise)
Returns, Refunds & Stock Issues
We do not accept returns or exchanges
If there is a problem with your order contact us within 48 hours of arrival (this will be the arrival time marked by the shipper) **Please note some tubers are not pretty but grow beautifully
If the issue is caused by the shipper we will assist you in getting as much reimbursement as possible, and if the issue is on our end, we will issue you a store credit and give you access to our 2027 sale ahead (this is ahead of the subscriber and general public sale)
If crop loss affects your order, we’ll contact you via phone and email to offer a replacement or refund
If we can’t reach you within 7 days, we'll issue a refund or send a tuber of the same or greater value
